Memoir uses lived experience and memory as material for creative inquiry. We are interested not simply in remembering the past, but in understanding and recontextualizing it: how time changes what we see, how memory holds joy and trauma together, and how the past continues to shape—but not determine—the future. Our idea of memoir uses writing and other creative forms to untangle experience, discover meaning, and transform memory into something new.
