wiTch (1999/2001) print

$20.00

The wiTch visual poem was composed in 1999, recorded and released on yule 2000 in 2000, and transformed into a darkroom work in 2001. The black-and-white photograph depicts a dark alley with the silhouette of a tree in the light at its end. The poem’s typography was incorporated into the photographic exposure by placing a transparency of the digitally typeset text over the photographic paper. The resulting work was unique and was never reproduced.

In 2026, the artist released float wiTch 浮遊, publishing the poem for the first time alongside a Japanese translation and a selection of photograms and chemigrams from the same period as the original text. As part of that project, a new print of the original 2001 darkroom work is now being made available.

This print reproduces an image originally created through an analog darkroom process, in which the typography was incorporated into the photographic exposure using a transparency. As a result, traces of the original photographic process remain visible in the reproduction, including the softness of the typography, dust, scratches, and other material irregularities. These characteristics are inherent to the original work and are not production defects.

Printed on 189 g/m² fine art paper, this print is suitable for framing.
