Performance is part of the artistic conception of these works—not simply something that happens to be performed. The work may grow from a live performance, document one, or extend its ideas, language, and forms into another medium. A book can become an extension of performance practice, carrying the experience and ideas of a live work into a new form while becoming a work in its own right.
