When compared to the bold colors of the artist’s first book, Retrospective, the black and white drawings in The Male Nude evoke a feeling of browsing through the artist’s private journals. Tice explores desire, pleasure, and lust through pencil and paper. His lines range from precise and controlled to loose and free, resulting in a body of work both sensual and sensitive.
