about

statement

i’m a photographer, writer, and designer who has worked on a wide variety of projects. i am proficient in digital art photography as well as book and document design. i particularly enjoy projects that incorporate all these elements, allowing me to put a unique stamp on my work.

by day i’m an it professional. this informs my work as a designer and gives me a top-notch ability to solve technical issues. if there’s a hardware or software problem there’s no need to ask for help; i’m the one that can fix it. this informs my creative work and allows me to seek out design solutions that might otherwise be unavailable to the less technically inclined.

i think of myself as a composer in disguise as a poet posing as a photographer. the pictures i create are driven by my love of music and sound. the rhythm and cadence of the written word gives birth to the song in my camera. i see images as poems, words as sound: everything is part of everything else. my work is a continuous, unfinished performance. dance music is like the heart beat. i grew up on a farm but now i live in the city. i have reclusive tendencies. everything is sacred. all is one. love.

client projects

Glynn & Julie Griggs

linen hardcover book, 2011
A client asked me to design a book celebrating the adoption of their children and the first year together as a family. I also used original photography to supplement the images they provided.

Getty Images

digital photography, 2010-11
Photography of my original ikebana designs are available for stock license with Getty Images. These images have been licensed by clients including MTV and Hasbro.

Lovely Life

family tree posters, 2010
I worked with the owner to design a family tree to be included as a poster inside the dvd case for a family history film project for one of her clients.

Mimi & Michael Joyce

linen hardcover book, 2009-10
For this project I provided both photography and design services for the bride and the events surrounding the wedding. The final product was a keepsake book preserving that special day for many years to come.

Mom & Dad

linen hardcover book, 2009-10
I designed for my parents the wedding album they never had. Since they did not have a professional photographer at the wedding, I was able to curate vintage snapshots from family members to tell the story of that day in a way that touched their hearts even over 40 years later.

Bumble and bumble.

digital slide show and various office documents for internal use, 2009-10
While working at Bumble as an IT systems administrator, I also volunteered to assist with the design of some office documents, including a slide show for the Bb. Green sustainability committee and a new employee welcome handbook. These projects were out of the scope of the art department and my designs were praised by the creative director.
